Native Americans were the first people who lived in 

North America.   The cultural regions were the 

Eastern Woodlands, the Southwest, the Northwest, 

and the Plains.   Today we'll talk about these 

regions and their ways of life.  

The Plains Native Americans lived in what is now the 

middle of the United States of America.   Their main 

food source was buffalo.  

                                           They lived in houses that 

are called teepees.                                                                   

There is also a region called the Eastern Woodlands 

Region.   Where I live is in the Eastern Woodlands.   The 

main food source for the people in the Eastern 

Woodlands was mainly game, or meat like deer.   The 

Eastern Woodlands are in the Eastern United 

States(OBVIOUSLY).   One of the tribes in the Eastern 

Woodlands is the Cherokee tribe.   I'm actually part 

Cherokee.   They lived in houses that were called 

wigwams.  

There is also the Southwest Region.   It's in the 

southwest part of the United States.   Their main food 

source was crops, including corn.   They lived in houses 

that were named Puebloes.  

There's one more region I would like to mention in this 

book established on Story Jumper.   It's the Northwest 

Region.   They lived in longhouses that were made of 

cedar bark.   Their main food source was fish. The 

Northwest Region was in states like Oregon.
