We learned a lot about different National Parks and Forests. It was an
interesting project to do, and ended up being a creation for a great story.

Once upon a time, there were two friends
named Sydney and Ross. They decided to go on
an adventure around the United States to
different types of parks using their Honda Civic,
a plane, and a fairy boat.

Since they lived in Mooresville, North Carolina, they wanted to start by going
to a National Forest in Tennesse. The forest they visited was the Cherokee
Forest. They made sure to pack lighters, a tent sleeping bags, clothes,
cameras, and maps so they would be prepared for all the activities in store
for them.
Before they left, they made sure they learned a little bit about the forest, so
they would be prepared for what they were in store for. After some research,
they found out that the forest has been around for a very long time. It helps
people reconnect with nature along with giving them productive activities to
do with their friends and family.

Finally, they arrived at the Cherokee forest with the transportation of the Honda Civic. They did
all kinds of activities such as hiking on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, fished outside of
the stocked Telco River, and bicycled on the Tanasi trail.
Throughout each activity, they were able to see many beautiful creatures that live and breath
the air of the Cherokee forest. Some of the animals they saw were Black bears and Eastern
Hellbender Salamanders. When they biked on the Tanasi trail they even got to see bundles of
oak and pine trees.
The park wasn’t all good, however. Ross and Sydney saw some people leaving garbage outside
that animals could potentially get into. This was a major environmental issue they came across.
Even though there was some negative environmental issues that could occur at the forest, The
Cherokee forest also does a lot of activities to manage their agency. For instance, the Cherokee
forest permits hunting game animals in most open areas that are not recreational or
administrative. They can only hunt during permitted hunting seasons with a permit.

Ross and Sydney had a fun time at the Cherokee National Forest. There next
stop, was a National Park called Fort Sumter. They drove all the way to the
coast using the Honda Civic. Since Fort Sumter is on an island, they took a
fairy out there so they wouldn’t miss out on the exciting events they had in
store.
Of course, they had to do research before they went to the park in order to
have the best experience they could possibly have. They found that the park is
important because it is where the start of the American Civil War took place. It
also has an amazing view of the ocean!
They made sure to pack snacks, water bottles, binoculars, and cameras for all
the amazing sites they were going to witness on the activities they participated
in such as visiting the multiple monuments commemorating to the historic
sight. Since there are thousands of tourists that visit from all over the country,
they tend to leave trash and other things behind that harm the environment.
This has caused some issues over the years.

Throughout visiting the monuments they didn’t see a lot of animals.
However, a major geological feature that was amazing was the ocean.
Sydney and Ross both witnessed a lot of amazing views and learned a lot of
facts at Fort Sumter. However, it was time for their next stop. Once they
took the fairy back to the coast. They took the first plane out to go all the
way to the National Resource Land called the Coachella Valley.

Since it was a long plane ride, they got to google some of the
geological features such as the Salton Sea, desert valley, and
the corridors there. They also found out that it protects and
conserves people’s water sources while delivering irrigation and
domestic drinking water.
As soon as they got there, they went straight into activities.
They got to work as an engineer there! They designed and
constructed district facilities while learning how much the
engineers get paid and how they get to work on wastewater
treatment projects. They also went hiking so they made sure to
pack sneakers, clothes and water.

When they were talking to some engineers they found out that some environmental
issues were risk of fire and some reports of bad air quality conditions. However, they also
found out about the Canal Water Service that kept the canal running after World War II.
The Coachella Valley was filled with information. They both had a great time. Next,
they wanted to go to a National Wildlife Refuge. They decided to stay in California and
ended up going to the Greater Sage-Grouse Conservation. They rented a car nearby that
got the same gas mileage as the Honda Civic they used earlier.

The Bureau of Land Management manages vast stretches of public lands that have the
potential to help the Nation’s renewable energy portfolio. They are also able to produce
both renewable and non renewable energy on federal lands while saving the Greater
Sage Grouse.
They made sure to pack a lot of water, sneakers, hand sanitizer, and fans so they could
stay cool throughout their activities of learning about the Greater Sage-Grouse and
interacting with them. They also got to learn about the wildfires that are primarily threats
to the birds in the Great Basin region. The animals they came in contact with was the
Greater Sage-Grouse.
Some of the environmental issues they faced on their trip were invasive plants,
degrading land, and expansion of pinyon juniper trees. However, they do do a lot of a
good. For instance, minimizing new or additional surface disturbance.
