Once upon a time, there was a lonely 

witch named Mother Gothel. She could 

not have children due to a curse so she 

had no husband. She was very powerful 

and had the gift of growing the most 

beautiful garden anyone had ever seen.

Mother Gothel had the best Rapunzel in 

the land. Her nearest neighbors were 

expecting a child and the wife was 

craving Rapunzel, so in the middle of 

the night the husband went into Mother 

Gothel's garden and stole some 

Rapunzel. Mother Gothel saw this and 

came up with a plan.

Mother Gothel decided that the next 

night, if they stole from her again she 

would make a deal, the parents could 

continue to use her rapunzel but once 

the child was born he or she would 

belong to Mother Gothel. The parents 

agreed for there was no way they could 

find rapunzel better that hers.

The child was a girl and Mother 

Gothel called her Rapunzel. She took 

her out to a beautiful forest and there 

she raised her and gave her love and 

joy.
