Connor the rabbit had always wanted to
travel, but he had never left his city before.
Since he grew up in a small family and had
lived in the same place his whole life, he was
not sure that he would be comfortable if he
was around animals who were not like himself
and who did not live like he did.
But one day, he decided that he would finally
go out and see the world, so he said goodbye
to his family and went on his way.

Connor went to Mexico first. There, he met Lucia the
armadillo. He learned about Mexican culture from
her.
"Mexico is a lot different than the United States,"
said Lucia. "We speak Spanish, we like to eat
different foods like tortilla and cactus plant meat,
and instead of Halloween, we celebrate El Dia de Los
Muertos - or "The Day of the Dead" in English."
That day, Lucia showed Connor around her town,
took him to the local street market, where he bought
and tried many new foods. She also took him to a
see soccer game!
The next morning, he thanked Lucia for showing him
her home, took some tortilla for the road, and went
on his way.

The next place Connor visited was Colombia, a
Spanish-speaking country in South America. There he
met Jose the sloth. After his experience in Mexico,
Connor was very excited to learn all about the
Colombian culture.
They spent a lot of time visiting national parks, since
that is where Jose lives. "It is very nice here in the
parks; the scenery is pretty and there are many
animals to make friends with," Jose told him.
Connor arrived just in time for the Barranquilla, a four
day carnival, and he and Jose went to check things out.
This event is full of parades, music, and dancing. He
got to see the brightly-colored traditional clothes and
energetic dancing style of Colombia.
Once again, after time well spent, he said goodbye to
his new friend and went on his way.

The next stop on Connor's list was Kenya, a country in
Africa when they speak Swahili. There, he met an
amazing lion couple, Simba and Nala!
They brought him on a safari to see the rest of their
pride, which is what lions call their family. He also saw
his first elephant; he was afraid of them at first
because of their size and sharp tucks, but the lions told
him they were nice.
They also took Connor to see the Maasai people, one of
the biggest tribes in Africa, who span from Kenya to
Tanzania. He also watched their rituals, music and
famous dances, which are quite different from what he
is used to back in his city. He loved it though!
After Simba and Nala showed Connor all that they
could, he said goodbye to his new friends and went on
his way.
