     One day, Scott the Snake was sitting 

outside his house. He was feeling especially 

bored. He had no friends to play with, so he 

asked his mom what to do.

     "Mom, I'm so bored. What should I do?" He 

asked her.

     "A new monkey family moved into the tree  

next to us, you should go see if you can make 

friends with their son."

    Scott slithered over to the tree next 

door. He saw a monkey around his age 

sitting in the tree. 

     "Hello, I'm Scott the Snake." He yelled 

up the tree.

     "I'm Mitch the monkey." The monkey 

said.

     "We are neighbors now. Do you want 

to be friends?" Scott asked.

     "No way!" Mitch said. Then Mitch 

climbed back into the leaves of the 

trees.

Tears swelled in Scott's eyes as he 

slithered sadly back home.

On his way home, Scott bumped into 

an Armadillo. Scott wasn't going to give 

up on making friends. He wasn't going 

to let one mean monkey get in his 

way.

     "Hi, I'm Scott the Snake," he said.

     "I'm Avi the Armadillo," The 

armadillo said.

They both smiled at each other. They 

new they would be great friends.

     "Do you want to play with my new 

ball?" Avi asked Scott.

     "Sure!" Scott exclaimed excitedly.

They played happily all day.
