A long time ago, there was 

a woman called Mary who 

lived in Nazareth. One day 

she was visited by an 

Angel called Gabriel. Angel 

Gabriel told her that she 

would soon have a baby. 

The baby would be called 

Jesus and would be the 

son of God. He would be 

the new born King. 

After Angel Gabriel had visited, King 

Herod decided all people on the land 

needed to be counted for and that 

everyone needed to return to the home 

town where they were born. Mary and 

Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem. 

This was very hard for Mary as her 

baby was due very soon, so she rode 

on a donkey with Joseph leading her. 

When Mary and Joseph 

finally arrived in Bethlehem, 

there was lots of people and 

all the houses and inns 

were full. However, one 

friendly innkeeper told Mary 

and Joseph that they could 

stay in his stable where he 

kept his animals. 

Joseph lay soft straw on 

the floor for Mary and a 

few hours later baby 

Jesus was born. Mary 

placed baby Jesus in a 

manger full of soft hay. 

Angel Gabriel came to 

visit Mary and baby Jesus. 

He told Mary he would 

spread the news that the 

son of God had been 

born. 

Far away in a field, three 

shepherds were watching 

their sheep when suddenly 

an angel came from the 

sky and told the Shepherds 

that the son of God had 

been born.
