' Twas the week before Christmas, and
all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even
Elfie on the shelf;
The stockings were hung by the chimney
with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be
there;

The children were nestled all snug in their
beds,
While visions of Elfie danced in their heads;
Where will they find her, Where will she
be?
Elfie plays all night while we sleep in our
beds.

One the first day when we arose,
We all sprang from the bed, to see
where Elfie had dozed.
We looked, and looked and where would
she be,
But taking a Sleigh riding ride down the
Christmas tree.

The second day came with new-fallen
snow
Gave way to finding Elfie in the middle
of the objects below,
When, what to our wondering eyes should
appear,
But Elfie, and eight tiny reindeer,

With little Elfie, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment she was playing
St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles her courses
they came,
And she whistled, and shouted, and
called them by name;

"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now,
PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONDER and
BLITTZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of
the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away
all!

With the day of her leaving now quickly
approaching
We are in quite a surprise with the stunts
she is pulling.
Oh where will we find her, Oh what will she
do next!
On top of the porch! On the top of the wall!
On the fireplace or treetop, maybe she
won't fall!

As the third day approaches before the
night fall,
When will she move, where will she sprawl?
So to bed we go, with anticipation we can't
wait,
What great things does she have in store
for us to see the next day?

And then, in a twinkling,
I heard lots of voices.
It sounded like a party,
Oh what is she doing?
As I drew in my bed,
and was turning around,
The sounds of a pool party were all around.
