After the explosion of the core the first responders that showed up had no idea of the effects of the smoke and the toxins that were in there so they bared it and they were exposed to many bad things like thirod cancer, and very high doses of iodine

Still today there about 500 people still live in Chernobyl,the reason they still live is because is that over the time they live there they became more resistant to the radiation.They don't live in the heavily radiated area.

every year reaserchers travel out to cherobyl,they have seen a increase in a increase of thirod cells of a wolf they have been studiying, it had thirod cancer the older it got and it died may 24th of last year. the effects of the nuclear disaster will last for thousands of years and will likley never be the same.
