Frisbee and Herbie were two elves in the North Pole. They both worked for Santa in the Toys Department. The two were best friends but very much hated their jobs. They both wanted to take care of the Reindeer but that was a position for the higher elves. Even so, the little elves played with the reindeer every night after their long shifts were over.
3
CRASH!! "Herbie, did you knock over the water bucket again?" said Frisbee.
"Whoops," came Herbies half hearted reply.
"We had better get home and get some rest before tomorrows shift," he said.
Herbie sighed and began to walk for the door. Then he tripped again and another water bucket came crashing to the floor. BANG!!
4
"Hey!! Who's in there!!" came a voice from outside the barn.
"Its Mr. Cupcake the Reindeer supervisor!!" whispered Herbie. "If he finds us, we'll never be promoted to head elf and we will never be able to switch jobs!"
Frisbee could hear the panic in his voice and pointed to the stalls in the back. Herbie and him had dug an escape route in case anything ever happened.
5
The two elves silently crawled to the secret door. As soon as they were out, they both sighed with relief before a hand grabbed them both from the side of the stables and into the little cabin next door.
"What the heck were you two thinking?!?!" asked the person.
"Ginger," said Herbie. "We were fine. There is no need to worry about us."
6
"It's a little too late now not to worry!" said Ginger. "You scared the sprinkles out of me!"
"Just relax," the boys laughed.
They ran away from her swatting hands and went to their beds.
Frisbee yawned and blew out the table side candle. They would need a lot of rest for the long day ahead of them.
7
The next day, the two elves were working in the toy shop when a knock came on the door.
"Get the door Ginger," said Frisbee.
"Your closer, why don't you get the door?" she replied.
"I'll get the door," said Herbie. "Do you two ever stop fighting?"
Herbie opened the door and cold snowy winds greeted him.
8
Then he saw the giant black boots. He looked up, and up, and up, farther still until he saw Santa's jolly round face and rosy red cheeks.
"Hello Herbie," said Santa. "Today is Christmas eve eve and you and the elves in the toy department are WAY behind schedule. You must work all night to get the work done. "
With that he slammed the tiny toy door and left the elves in silence.
9
Frisbee sighed. "I guess we won't get to feed the Reindeer tonight."
10 hours later:
The elves had been working for hours and they were almost caught up. At midnight, Frisbee sent them all home to get some rest while He and Herbie continued to work.
10
They were working on elf on the shelf's at about midnight when Herbie noticed a sort of quiet which never accompanied Frisbee around.
"Frisbee!!" he called. "Where are you?"
Again he heard nothing except a slight snoring noise coming from the conveyor belt. There Frisbee was asleep and heading for Santa's big bag.
11
Herbie ran to the end of the belt and tried to pull Frisbee off. When that didn't work, he tried smacking Frisbee and yelling at him. He still didn't wake up!!
Frisbee went down the belt to the wrapping station and by this time, there was only one thing Herbie could do to save his elf buddy. He hopped on the conveyor belt and tried to look cheerful so he would look like a happy elf on the shelf.
12
The wrapping machines wrapped him in his box and then a bright green wrapping paper. All Herbie saw was green.
With nothing else to wrap, the machines steady whir began to die and the lights slowly darkened.
Herbie felt himself falling through the air and knew he must be on his way to Santa's bag.
13
Then he felt a jolt and he immediately ripped open his box and tore through the wrapping paper.
He heard a grunt next to him and tore open the box to his right. The little elf on the shelf opened his eyes.
"Come on Frisbee! We have got to get out of here!" He said.
14
"What happened?" asked Frisbee.
"You fell asleep on the conveyor belt and now we are in Santa's bag probably ready to be delivered to the other side of the world!" he replied.
"Oh," said Frisbee.
"Oh. Oh he says., That's really all you have to say!" Herbie said angrily.
15
"Sorry?" he replied nervously.
"I forgive you of course," said Herbie. Now lets get out of here!"
The two elves attempted to climb up the red velvet sack full of goodies for girls and boys all over the world. But every time they crawled up, they slipped back down. One final package fell into Santa's bag and onto Frisbee's head.
16
The package was addressed to a climbing group in Nepal. The elves looked at each other and nodded.
Herbie silently promised to make them twice the gifts and then they tore into the wrapping paper.
Inside, they found a climbing rope. They threw the first rope up and it latched onto the top of the bag.
17
"Who's gonna go first?" asked Herbie.
After there was silence They both said, "I'll go. No I'll go. OK you go. Wait what?" Then they both exploded into laughter.
"I'll go," said Frisbee through wheezes of laughter. He latched his tiny elf hands onto the climbing rope and shimmied his way up. Then motioned for Herbie to follow.
18
Herbie also shimmied up the rope and they entered a room neither had ever seen before. A giant tray of cookies and a large glass of milk sitting on the giant table in front of them.
"We are in Santa's house!" whispered Frisbee. "If we get caught, we will be fired and never be Santa's elves again!"
Herbie just shivered at the thought and began to search the house for any escape rou
19
Herbie just shivered at the thought and began to search for an escape route. But all of the doors were too big and the climbing rope had fallen back into Santa's bag.
"What the heck are we supposed to do now?" asked Herbie.
"The stables!!!" Frisbee replied quietly.
"Yeah, I know there are stables but now is not the time to talk about them. Now how are we going to get out of here?" asked Herbie.
