There once lived a man named Kino, who lived on the Baja Coast of Mexico with a wife Juana and son Coyotito. He lived his life in a brush hut by the ocean as a fisherman. He is a caring man that looks after his family no matter what.

Kino was living a happy life with his family. Until one day Kino's son ,Coyotito, fell ill after being stung by a scorpion; because of this, Kino went in search of a pearl that could save his son and family.

Kino found the biggest roundest pearl he had ever seen. This was going to save his family and make him a wealthy man. He imagined his son going to school, getting married and having his own rifle due to his wealth from the pearl.
