During this time, the men had most of the outdoor chores, while the women worked in their house. During crop season, a main crop that was planted were yam's.
4

5
Only the men in the village were allowed to plant these yam's. If you were not to plant yam's, then you simply were not a man. Or at least a man with dignity.
6

7
Yam's were very important to this community. Without yam's, there would not be a village nor villagers. It is one of the most important chores for the men to complete.
8
Even though the yam's were the most important, every chore had to be accomplished. While men were planting their crops, women were taking care of the children.
9
In the end, a yam is a yam. They will feed your community. They will bring you health and wealth. And this is why a yam can turn a boy into a man.
