Many, many states didn't allow marriage equality like: Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

But many people in these states wanted the right to marry who the love or have their marriage be regonized by the state; Just like Jim Obergefell.

4
Obergefell was upset because his partner, John Arthur, was dying and the Ohio would not acknowledge their marriage on this death certificate. So he appealed but he lost.
