It's spring time. The birds are chirping. The sun is shining. The rain is falling. The wind blows a tiny seed in the dirt.

The tiny seed starts to grow round and full from all the sunlight and water. Then the most amazing thing happens! The tiny seed starts to burst open. The seed is not just a seed anymore.

Chirp, chirp!
What is that I see?
Tiny brown roots,
looking back at me!

The seed grows tiny, brown roots down into the earth. They drink the rain water and hold the flower deep into the dirt.

Chirp, chirp!

The birds are still chirping and the sun is still shining.

Chirp, chirp!
What is that I see?
A green, skinny stem,
looking back at me!

A green stem sprouts. Up, up, up! Up and out! The stem makes sure the flower has all the water it needs, so it can grow big and strong like you and me.

Chirp, chirp!

The birds are still chirping and the sun is still shining.
