Betsy was born on a sunny day in June. Betsy's mother loved her so much, and the farmer did too.
2

Betsy and her mother were brought to the farm for a very special purpose. The farmer and his wife bought them so Betsy and her mother could bring milk to the farmer's family!
Cows can produce up to eight gallons of milk a day!
3

But, Betsy soon realized that the other animals on the farm did not think she was as amazing as the farmer and her mother thought she was. Betsy and her mother were the only cows on the farm!
4
Betsy began to walk around the farm and saw all the animals. There were big, beautiful horses in the fields. So, Betsy walked up to them.

5

But, the horses did not want to talk to Betsy. They told her, "We are beautiful and can run fast. What can you do? You cannot even produce milk for the farmer yet." And then they walked away.
6
Next, Betsy went to the pond to talk to the ducks, but they did not want anything to do with a young calf. And they all swam away.

7
Betsy found that none of the animals wanted anything to do with her, because they did not think that she was special. The animals all said to her, "We don't need you!" Betsy was very upset.

8

Betsy found her mother and ran to her crying. Through her tears, Betsy told her mother what had happened with the other animals.
Betsy's mother pulled her close and said,"The other animals just do not realize how special you are, Betsy. Just close your eyes and sleep now, you will find a way to show them what makes you so important."
9
As Betsy looked up at the night sky, she wished that she could show the other animals that she was important to the farm, too. Betsy kept whispering her wish until she fell asleep curled up next to her mother.
10
The next morning, Betsy woke up to a lot of confusion around the farm. All the animals were very upset. Betsy looked around for her mother, but realized she was probably with the farmer being milked.

11
Betsy went to where the other animals were to see what had happened.

12

Betsy asked the sheep, "What is going on?"
In a scared voice the sheep replied, "Billy goat's son, Tony, has gone missing! When Billy woke up this morning Toby had disappeared! We have looked everywhere!"
13

Just as Betsy was about to respond to the sheep, she heard a very high pitched cry coming from the distance.

HELP! HELP! HELP!
14

"Did you hear that?", Betsy asked the sheep, "It sounds like someone is crying for help!"
"I did not hear a thing.", the sheep said in an annoyed voice, "Just leave us alone."
