Today was the day Eva had to say goodbye, to her family, friends, home and school in Mexico.

3
She was excited for her new adventure in Arizona and curious to meet her new teacher and classmates.

4
Eva wakes up early Monday morning after a weekend full of unpacking and moving into her new home. She starts getting ready for her big day ahead of her at her new school.

5
Eva's mom calls up to Eva's room, "Eva it is time to go we are going to be late for your first day!" Eva looks in the mirror one last time and thinks, what if I am dressed funny, what if I look different from the other children and sound weird to them because of my accent?

6
Eva walks in to Room 11, her new third grade classroom. The teacher Mrs. Smith, is standing at the front of the class. She is tall with short brown hair, big blue eyes, and has a nice bright smile.

7
Mrs Smith looks at Eva and then looks at the rest of the class and says, "Class this is our new student Eva, she came all the way from Mexico. Please give her a helping hand and be friendly." "Eva will you tell your classmates a little bit about yourself?" Mrs. Smith says.

8
Eva looks out at her class nervously, "Hi my name is Eva Rodriguez. I am from Mexico. I have one little brother and one little sister," Eva says with a smile on her face.

9
"she sounds funny" says a boy sitting in the front row. "Why does she talk like that?" says a girl with a pink shirt. The class giggles and looks at Eva strangely.

10
Eva is sad and can not wait to go home. She feels out of place and wishes she could go back to Mexico. Eva takes her seat at her new desk. Her classmates are staring at her with wide eyes like she is an alien. Eva sits low in her seat and can not wait for the day to be over.

11
At lunch time Eva eats her Empanadas that her mother packed her. As Eva was eating her Empanadas a girl comes over and sits across from her. "What is that?" asks the girl pointing at the empanadas.
