One day, Adam had a terrible, terrible cough.
*Cough, Cough*
"Grandma, what do I do," Adam asks. "I just can't stop coughing."

"Aww, my poor grandson," Grandma replies, "have a seat, let me get you some cough medicine."
"No, no grandma! I already took some today." Adam says.
"Okay," Grandma signs, "there is one more thing we can try."

5
"What? What?" Adam asks eagerly, "What is it?"
"Its called Acupuncture," Grandma replies.
"A-cu-pun-ture?" Adam asks confused, "what is that?"
6
7
"Yes, sweetie" Grandma explains, "it is a traditional Chinese method that uses needles to reduce pain."
"Wait, but how?" Adam asks right before he coughs.
"They insert needles in certain parts of the body and twirl them slowly. This gets rid of the pain!" Grandma replies.
8
9
"NEEDLES?!?NOOOO, that sounds so painful!" Adam cries out loud.
"Sweetie, it doesn't hurt. I promise!" Grandma reassures him.
"Hold on. Let me research this," Adam says confidently.

Adam goes to the computer and searches "acupuncture" on google. He finds out that American scientist didn't believe that acupuncture works because it was unscientific. They even shut down Chinese acupuncture clinics.
13
14
Over the years, after countless arguments, acupuncture was finally accepted. Adam's mind was blown. He felt reassured about this whole acupuncture deal.
15
Adam runs to the kitchen to tell his grandma. "Guess what? I agree with you, acupuncture seems like a great option."
"That's great, sweetie! We will get you an appointment right away!"
16
17
The next day, grandma, Adam, and little Tommy went to a nearby acupuncture clinic.
Adam was nervous but felt confident about his decision.
When they walked in, a nice lady greeted them and handed grandma a stack of papers to fill out and sign.
Adam looked around and instantly felt relaxed. He knew he was in safe hands.
18
19
A few moments later, the lady called grandma and Adam to say that the doctor is ready for them.
Grandma and Adam went into the room to the doctor. Doctor Stewart asked Adam to have a seat on the bed.
"Hello Adam," Doctor Stewart greeted, "whats the problem?"
"I just can't stop coughing!" Adam replies right before he starts coughing again.
20
21
"Alright, Adam. We can fix that problem easily." Doctor reassures him.
Now lay down and stay relaxed.
Doctor grabs his gloves and equipment to get started.
22
23
The doctor explains that the body is maintained by a force called qi. This force flows through the body and intersects at some points called meridian. There are 12 meridians in the body. The qi also maintains balance inside our body and when this balance is thrown off, it results in pain or disease like Adam's cough.
