Miguel was always remarked as a sweet boy and as such he always had a plan for the nearest holiday. Mother's Day was the event and it was still about two months away. Miguel wanted to do something extra special to show his mom his love for her so he decided he would give her flowers. He was only five years old at the time so he didn't have the money to buy her flowers, and he wanted something special so he decided to plant his own flowers! His father said that it was a great idea and helped him plant the buds that would soon be beautiful roses.

With a plan in mind and a heart set on success, Miguel was ready to plant his seeds and watch them grow. He only had one problem; he didn't know how to grow flowers. He invested the help of his father to give him directions on what to do. His father told him that plants need water and sunlight to grow. Miguel didn't understand the concept and when his father asked why there was food scraps in the garden Miguel replied with "They needed to eat so they can grow so I fed them."
