Once upon a time there lived a young man named Ma Liang. Ma Liang was a very poor man, but he was also very kind- hearted. He loved to paint and loved to help people, from poor to rich.

One day Ma Liang decided to help a rich man with his cattle. He worked from sunrise to sunset helping the rich man.

After a long day of working. He went home and fell into a deep sleep. That night Ma Liang had a strange dream. He dreamed about a magical paint brush that could paint anything in the world. An old wise man came into his dream and told him to use the magical paint brush to help all the poor people.

When Ma Liang woke up, he saw the magic paintbrush lying on desk. He knew it was his job to help the poor people. Whenever he saw people who needed help, he used the magic paintbrush to help them.

The next day he saw farmers struggling to water their fields, their village was running out of water, so their fields were drying up. Ma Liang drew a big river with his magic paintbrush, and the river came to life. The farmers now had a lot of water for their fields.

One morning he was walking past a small village and saw that it was difficult for the villagers to plow their crops. He quickly grabbed some paper from his backpack and drew some cows with his magic paintbrush. The cows came out from the paper and came to life.

The villagers used the cows to help plow their crops. They were so thankful, and cheered Ma Liang’s name all throughout the village.

Everyone in China heard about Ma Liang’s magic paintbrush and were amazed, but one man wasn’t. The rich man that Ma Liang helped with his cattle was a bad man, he wanted to steal the magic paintbrush, and make a lot of money out of it.

The rich man came up with an evil plan, he sent people to Ma Liang’s house to arrest him for no reason. The rich man stole the magic paintbrush from Ma Liang and sent him to prison.
