Hi, my name is Marcia and I live with my mom and younger brother in Knoxville, Tennessee.
2

I have family that lives all over the world and we love visiting one another whenever we get the chance. Every time we travel it's important to make sure we are prepared for each trip. One of the most important things we bring is money. Believe it or not, different countries around the world have their own currency. Even though they all use money, many of their values are different from the United States. Here let me show you!
3
If you live in the United States, you should be familiar with the United States dollars and coins. The paper dollars are all green in color but have different amounts and people on the front.
In my piggy bank I have $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills.
The people displayed on the front are presidents who were in charge of the executive branch in the government or other government officials who greatly impacted our country like Alexander Hamilton who founded our system of currency.
4

George Washington, 1st president
Abraham Lincoln, 16th president
Alexander Hamilton, U.S. Secretary of Treasury
Andrew Jackson, 7th president
5
The finally came when we packed up the car to make the journey to Mexico. We had traveled 325 miles when we decided to stop at the Cuyahoga National Park in Ohio. Cuyahoga National Park is famous for the variety of bears that live in the forests
My Aunt Becky and Uncle Michael live in Quebec, Canada. Whenever we visit them, we have to exchange our bills we use in the United States for Canadian dollars.

Similar to money in the United States, in Canada our money is separated into $5, $10, $20
However, we have different people on the front of our money! We also call our dollars, notes.
6

Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada
Sir John A. MacDonald, First Prime Minister of Canada
Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom
7
My cousin Natalie lives in Mexico City, Mexico. Whenever we visit Natalie, I exchange my United States dollars for pesos. Instead of $1, $5, $10, pesos begin with a 20.

In Mexico, our peso have important figures in Mexican history. Not only do we have a president, but priests, nuns and war heroes!
8

Benito Juarez, president of Mexico
Jose Morelos, priest and fought in the war for Mexican Independence
Nezahuadcoyotl, King of Texcoco
Juana de la Cruz, nun
9
Finally my grandfather lives in Jamaica. When we visit my grandpa, we go to the beach everyday! In Jamaica their currency is called, Jamaican dollars.

For larger amounts of money we use banknotes. The banknotes have government officials but also people who fought for Jamaican independence!
10

Samuel Sharpe, National Hero
Sir Donald Sangster, 2nd Prime Minister
Nanny of the Maroons, rebel for Jamaican freedom
Michael Norman, 4th Prime Minister
11
I love my family and all the adventures we have together! With their help, we can travel and learn great things about our different cultures and currencies!
