Ben, the turtle, was born on June 12, 2016. He is the firstborn of 42 brothers and 67 sisters. All of them rested in their nest.

Ben watched his brothers and sisters break out of their shells and run off down the beach. One by one they all went sea bound. But Ben was alone.

Ben was scared to go where he had never been before. Would the other sea creatures like him? Would he fit in?

Ben saw the birds overhead flying and singing. He did not like being alone, but was even more scared of being rejected by others.

Ben knew the sun was going to sleep soon, so he took a deep breath and ran to the ocean. Once he was in the water, he swam a long time to find another turtle just like him. He had no luck!

Ben finally made his way to his ancestor's land. He did not see anyone there and became even sadder. He now believed he was not meant to have friends and perhaps there was no one like him.
