XYZ affair was a diplomatic incident between the US and France diplomats that resulted in a limited, undeclared war known as the Quasi-War.
Adams sent three men to meet the Prime Minister of France and had to pay a bribe for those men to see the Prime Minister.

Alien and Sedition Acts
The Alien and Sedition Act were formed to create new powers to deport foreigners as well as making it harder for new immigrants to vote.
Adams was for this because he didn't want outsiders to try and take over their new home.

Richmond Husting's Court
Marshall was made city recorder and acted as magistrate on Richmond Husting's Court.
Marshall became known as a fair and modest man who communicated clearly and based his decisions on common good.

Marshall was one of the three men sent to France to help improve relations with the United States and France.
Marshall was their for the main goal to stop the attacks on American ships.
