To Mr. Wontorcik's 7th hour World History

The men went to their warships to prepare to fight Xerxes, the Persian king.

Once upon a time, in the land of Greece, the general of the Athenian navy, Themistocles, ordered all women and children to leave Athens.

Xerxes and his army went to Greece and headed straight for Athens. When they arrived, they found the city empty, and burned it to the ground.

The Athenian general, Themistocles, tricked Xerxes into thinking his navy retreated, so Xerxes followed them into a small strip of sea off the island of Salamis.

The Persian ships were too big and they got stuck! The smaller, Athenian ships smashed into the big ships and they were destroyed.

The Persian ships retreated and the Athenians were victorious!
