A long time ago in India a prince was born who was hidden from the world's suffering. As an adult he realized how messed up the world was and set out to find happiness. This prince eventually became the Buddha.

This prince was named Siddhartha Gautama and he was given everything he could ever want by his loving parents; amazing clothes to wear, good food to eat, and servants to serve him.

Although he had everything, all he could think about was the suffering of the world. So he went outside to see it for himself.

Siddhartha met a monk who said he found happiness, but he didn't believe him. This made him set out to find happiness even though he had to leave his family.

After traveling around India for six years, the prince turned monk, began to think there was no happiness in the world and he would be sad forever.

After he lost all hope he sat under a Bodhi tree to meditate. This is where he found enlightenment.

While meditating under the Bodhi tree Buddah realized 4 truths:
- Life is filled with suffering
- Suffering is caused by people's wants.
- Suffering can be ended if people stop wanting things, like more pleasure or more power.
- To stop wanting things, people must follow 8 basic laws, called the Eightfold Path.
