Our class did an Inquiry Based Lesson on the homeless. We were able to invite a guest speaker from a nearby shelter, and collect some items for the shelter. As a culminating project we produced this book to create awareness for the homeless of our community.

Homeless people aren't bad people. They may have once been just like you! For example, maybe they had a big family so there was no more room in the house, or maybe someone took their stuff. This may have happened to someone you see every day on the road. Also, if someone was a homeless person, they don't have anywhere to sleep. Not having a shelter to live in may cause illnesses. Maybe that's why they act sort of weird. Don't make fun of homeless people because they're not bad!

Do you see people that are homeless begging for money? If you do, give them a couple of cents. People can also donate things, if they want. There are also shelters around the city.
