"There are very few monsters who warrant the fear we have of them." - Andre Gide

Boom! Boom! Boom! The heavy footsteps of the huge monster grew louder as the villagers ran for safety. Life was wonderful in the village as everyone, both big and small, were able to live in harmony. That was until the sudden appearance of a fearsome monster that began attacking their village, destroying their homes, and eating their food.

The villagers had built a big wall to keep out monsters. They had never been outside of their village so they weren't even sure exactly who or what they were keeping out. But it made them feel safe. While it had kept the monsters out, had there always been a monster in their midst? Somebody was feeding and provoking the huge beast. Someone who lived in the village.
"Ready, aim, fire!"
The villagers, armed with their bows and arrows, prepared to fend off the snarling monster. But their arrows just bounced off the creature who swatted the arrows and the villagers away like flies. Fearing for their safety, they abandoned the fight allowing for the monster to rampage through their village devouring all of their crops.

An emergency meeting was called by The Parliament of Owls. They no longer believed in their leader, ?The Elder. "You have sacrificed our safety for the very last time! Obviously there are members of this village who are too weak and poor to fend for themselves. Only the strong shall survive this latest challenge. You no longer speak for us" said one of the owls.

Feeling betrayed by his fellow villagers, The Elder sought the advice of The Oracle. The Oracle was a supernatural force that provided the villagers with strength, courage, and wisdom. "What do I do Oracle? I have lost the faith of the people and put many lives in danger. I feel as though I am a failure." "When you least expect it, a saviour shall....." BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The alarms had been sounded. The huge monster had returned to destroy the village once and for all. This time he was met by a ragtag group of villagers who still believed in The Elder. They were able to fend off the monster who fled back into the forest. By now the village was in disarray as sorrow and fear filled the air.

A few miles from the village, a young girl was practicing her sword fighting skills. Her name was Elizabeth, the only survivor of an attack by the same monster who destroyed her village. Elizabeth's only companion was a hedgehog named Sanders. Her father was a brave knight who had lost his life trying to protect his town from the mighty beast.

A vote was held to decide the fate of The Elder. The people had spoken and they decided that he had to leave the village. Dejected, The Elder headed out alone. Outraged by the decision, a small group of villagers agreed to accompany their leader. They came upon a campsite and started to unpack the few belongings they had when they were confronted by a girl with a sword.
The monster continued to terrorize the many villages in the area. He destroyed their homes and ate all of their food. This led to many of the villagers fleeing their homes as they left behind the only life they had ever known. they had left. It appeared as though the monster would never be defeated. Groups of sad, homeless families gathered in the woods with nowhere to go.

After sharing her story with the exiles, Elizabeth entered the village and introduced herself to the new leaders. "I am Elizabeth and I will defeat the monster!" The owls burst into a fit of laughter. "You're just a girl, a child!" Without warning that infernal alarm was sounded yet again. The monster had arrived to demolish the village once and for all.
