To ants who help our planet
-The "Ant"swer
FLL Team 1250

Welcome to our colony! Today my friends and I are going to teach you to work as a team.
Did you know that us ants alone are insignificant, and that means we can't do a lot by ourselves. But, together, no matter what our size, we can acomplish great feats.
Humans should try their best to work together with their teammates, just like us.
Together we can do more.

Ants are as small as your fingernail, but they can lift something 20 times their own weight.

Ants in our colony do their work with little guidance form the queen. Everyone has their own specific job. Queen, Workers, Nursery, Foragers, and Soldiers. Every ant will notice if one ant isn’t doing their job.
In school, or on your team, this means every kid has an important role while working in a team. The roles could be researcher, scribe, artist, or leader to complete a certain project.
We work without help from the queen

As ants we discover the shortest path to a food source, and lay down pheromones so that other ants can get there quickly. We know that this knowledge should be shared with others and not kept to ourselves. We also work together to warn each other of dangers and other problems.
For your team, if there is an important problem that someone doesn't know about, tell them.
Remember that knowledge should be shared with others and not be kept to yourself.

We share useful information with each other.
You may have noticed if ants are walking in a straight line, and you put an obstacle in their way, like a stick, they’ll walk around it and not just give up.
Ants will not drown if their hill gets flooded. They will latch together to form a raft.
This means the kids can’t give up if they encounter a problem with their team. They have to ‘latch’ together so they can be successful.
If we find a problem, we work our way around it.
