Once there was a girl named Sophie, age 5, who loved her unicorn, Frilly. When Sophie was 3 her aunt gave her a toy unicorn. She had promptly named the unicorn Frilly, for reasons that are now unknown. From that day on, wherever Sophie went, Frilly came too.

One day Sophie's family went to the zoo. Out of habit, she grabbed Frilly off the shelf. It was thrilling. There were monkeys and turtles and even cheetahs! When they got to the seals, Sophie set Frilly down so she could peer through the glass. Suddenly her mother exclaimed "Oh no, the bird show is about to start!" and off they went.

Climbing into the car after lunch, Sophie absentmindedly reached over to stroke Frilly, but Frilly wasn't there! "Mom!" she exclaimed, "Frilly's gone!"
