Dedicated to my future children.

Hi, my name is Katie and I'm eight years old. I love going to Grandma's house. She loves me and I love her! Together we love to bake goodies and gobble them up. I go to her house every weekend.

Today mommy is taking me to Grandma's house so we can make my favorite treat, chocolate chip cookies! However, when I get to Grandma's, she tells me we need to go to the store first.

I hate going shopping with Grandma. She is no fun. She takes forever to get things and she never gets me anything!

When we get home, Grandma makes me wash my hands. Next, she makes me put on one of her ancient t-shirts so my clothes don't get messy.

I don't know how to read very well so grandma gets all of the measuring cups and ingredients ready. I am so excited because I love to bake with Grandma!

Once all of the delicious ingredients are in the bowl, Grandma lets me mix it all up with a spoon. I try my best to make sure everything is combined but sometimes Grandma has to help me.

When all of the main ingredients are combined, its time for my final and favorite ingredient, the chocolate chips. I swirl them in and then it's time to scoop, so I take a scoop of the dough and put it on a tray.

Finally, they get to be put in the oven, but I'm not allowed to go near the oven because it is too hot. I set the timer for 15 minutes and wait restlessly for them to be ready. While I wait, I play with grandma's new puppy . My mom says we can not adopt a puppy because she is allergic.

Grandma tells be i can take the puppy for a walk while she stays and watches the cookies. As I merrily walk outside, I feel the glorious weather blow my hair back.

Before i even get a chance to look around, my puppy runs and the leash escapes my hand. "No! Come back!" I yell. After chasing him for two minutes, I finally catch up to him and see something I did not expect...

NO! COME BACK!
A frail old man had caught my puppy in his arms. The man looked very scraggly and hungry so I figured he was homeless. "Thank you sir for catching my puppy." I said.

"No problem!" replied the man. "I used to have dog of my own just like this one."
"Where is he now?" I asked.
