This means they are capable of producing their own food.

These organisms create their own food by photosynthesis. They use sunlight as the energy source.

Plants produce their own food by converting light energy into chemical energy.

All animals, including humans, are consumers, which obtain food by eating other organisms.

There are different kinds of consumers. Some eat plants, some eat animals.
