Today was a big day for Rose. Rose had to visit the doctor for a check up because she was starting preschool in a week.

"Mom, do I have to go?" she asked.

"Yes honey. The doctors have to make sure you are healthy before school starts." replied Rose's mother.

Look, it's time to go! Let's get in the car.

"But I am really scared!" cried Rose.

"What are you afraid of?" asked her mother.

"I...I'm afraid that I will have to get a shot. Will I have to?" Rose asked as she began crying. Rose really hated shots and cried whenever she got one.

"I'm not sure. We will have to just go and see." replied her mother.

When they arrived at the doctor's office, Rose was very nervous. But once they got in the room, the doctor came in and calmed Rose down.

"You are very healthy Rose!" the doctor said after the check-up. "But...you do have to get a shot, just one."

This made Rose very nervous.

"I promise it will only hurt for a little bit. It's just going to feel like a pinch and then it will be all over!" said the doctor. After he gave her the shot he said, "see, it wasn't that bad was it?"

"You're right, it just felt like a pinch!" said Rose. All her fears were gone. "Thank you!"
