The Persian Empire was immense piece of land. Persia included parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Cyrus the Great adopted a policy of tolerance towards the people he conquered. Cyrus allowed conquered peoples to continue to speak their own languages, practice their own religions, and keep their own cultures. Cyrus created a cylinder that outlined the rights, policies, and goals of the Persian Empire!
The next great ruler of Persia, after Cyrus, was Darius the Great! Darius reformed the government by dividing the empire in satrapies. This new structure of government allowed Darius control his vast empire more efficiently.
