To My First Grade Students, T.H.

My trip begins on Earth. I leave our home looking for places to explore.

Passing the moon, I head toward the sun.
Venus is the first planet I come to. It is too hot to land on. I look at it with my scanners and see big volcanoes, like this one.

Next I fly by Mercury. It is rocky. It is bare and hot on the side facing the sun. The other side is cold and dark.
Next we head to the sun...

We will use the sun to speed our ship back out to the rest of the planets.
We spin around the sun and fly out past Mercury, Venus and Earth.

I come to Mars. I am not the first explorer here. Robots have been to Mars to find out what it is made of, and to look for life!
after a long time...

I start to see big rocks. I am in the asteroid belt!
