My name is Grace Granite and this is the adventure of my life. I was born as a granite rock. A rock is hard and naturally made up of minerals.

I am well known as an igneous intrusive rock because I was born below a volcano when magma cooled for a very long time and crystalized before reaching the Earth’s surface.
I am made of feldspar, quartz, and biotite mica. I am a light colored rock and slow cooling gave me large grains and crystals.

Years went by and I became older. Wind and and erosion eroded me into tiny pieces called sediments!
The wind carried my tiny pieces away to a place with a lot of other sediments.

After a long period of time, the substances on top of me compacted and stuck my tiny pieces together with a lot of pressure.
Now, I am a brand new, lighter colored rock and I go by the name Sandstone!

As a clastic sedimentary rock, life was great. Until one day, I was exposed to high temperatures and pressure. This caused my quartz grains to recrystalize and create another brand new rock! I was now a hard and tough metamorphic rock going by the name Quartzite!

Life as a Quartzite was fun for a few years. But, overtime I melted from heat under the surface and became magma. I slowly cooled and became granite once again!

I completed my rock cycle and was starting my life all over again. I do not know what rocks I will become in my future, but I know I will enjoy my new rock cycle journey as much as I did last time! Wish me luck!
