I would like to thank Mrs. Bergstrom for giving me the opportunity to make this book possible. I would also like to thank the due date of April 3 for giving me the motivation to write this book.
Thank you and enjoy!
Our story takes place in Sierre Leone, a country in Western Africa.
Here blood diamonds are very popular in trade.
Trade: Selling goods for money
In the 1990's blood diamonds were 4% of the world's population of diamonds, today however they are only 1%. The reason they are only 1% is because many people use them for illegal trade.
Blood diamonds are also known as conflict diamonds.
In 2003 trading blood diamonds was made illegal because they were becoming an endangered diamond and were a reminder of civil wars in Africa
They were also making conflicts (hence name conflict diamond)
These diamonds are bad reminder of our conflicts.
We vote we should ban them from being traded.
Many blood diamonds were smuggled to America from Sierre Leone. Many were not cought because they were cut. When diamonds are cut it is hard to see them in their original state, previous buyers or people in the buisness in buying diamonds can notice the differences quickly.
