Thanks for a great semester!

This is Max, a very curious young boy who loves exploring. One night in his backyard, Max asked aloud "I wonder what the Moon looks like tonight since it is such a clear night outside..."

Max saw the Moon and thought to himself "Wow! The Moon is so full tonight." He then heard something from a far distance talking to him...

The Moon was talking to Max! The Moon asked him "What do you think I look like Max?" He then answered the Moon "I'm not too sure..." Max then realized something... He said "If I observe the Moon everyday and record data in my science notebook, I may be able to find some evidence in order to figure out some new facts about the Moon's cycle in the sky!"

So Max observed the Moon outside his house and recorded what he found in his notebook with the help of the Moon.
The Moon then said "Lets take a look at what you learned!"
Date: March 12, 2017
Observation:
Moon is completely full and very bright. I cannot see any missing parts of the Moon.
Wonderings:
How many days are in a Moon's cycle?
Findings:
Nothing yet until I collect more data in my notebook!
Max's Notebook

Each day this week I am going to record what the Moon looks like because I have now made a new friend! He can even help me in my investigation.

A couple days later, Max talked to his friend the Moon and realized that the moon is now less full than he was a couple days ago! He made sure to record this in his notebook. The Moon told max I am in my waning gibbous phase. Max made sure to research this phase when he got home.

Max's Notebook
Date: March 15, 2017
Observation:
Moon is in the Waning Gibbous phase which means it is more than halfway full but not exactly full
Wonderings:
About how many days are in a Moon's cycle?
Findings:
The Moon is changing every few days instead of every other day

A couple days later Max observed that the moon has moved from gibbous to a crescent shape. He then recorded this in his science notebook.
The Moon told Max "I am in the Waning crescent phase of my cycle Max!"

"Wow!" explained Max. You're are almost gone! It looks like a crescent shape in the sky! He added this into his science notebook and waited for a couple more days to observe again because the appearance wasn't changing that much day to day.
The Moon asked Max "What do you think I look like today?"
