High up in the sky, way out in space lived a moon

But this wasn't just any moon, he had a very important job

He was the night light for a curious little planet called Earth

Every evening, Moon would get ready to go to work

When Sun gets tired they would pass each other

Even though they only saw each other a little bit each day

Sun and Moon were great friends

"Goodmorning!" Said Sun

"Goodnight!" said Moon

Sun went to sleep and Moon met up with his friends, the stars

"Hello Moon!" Shouted the stars

"How are Ya?!"

"Hey buddy!"

"Nice to see ya!"

"Hey guys!" Said Moon

"How is Earth tonight?

"So far so good!"

"All the little humans are sleeping safe and sound"

Moon and the stars all settled in for the night as they watched over the sleepy little planet

As the humans began to wake

Moon got ready for bed

Moon passed Sun again

"Goodnight!" Said Sun

"Goodmorning!" Said Moon

"Have a great day!"

As Sun took its place in the sky

Moon could hear the little humans cheering

"Yay!"

"The sun's out!"

"Hmmm I wonder why they never cheer for me?"

Moon thought to himself

"Maybe tomorrow!"

Moon went to sleep

Moon woke up

Excited and ready to go to work!

He passed Sun

"Goodmorning!" Said Sun

"Goodnight!" said Moon

Moon took his place in the sky

and stopped to listen

"No cheers for me?"

Moon was confused

"Do you know why they cheer for Sun but not for me?

Moon asked the stars

"Hmmm maybe the humans like how big and bright Sun is!"

"That has to be it!"

Said Moon

So the next night Moon took his place in the sky

as big and bright as he could be!

But still no cheers

"Hmmm maybe it's because the humans are asleep at night so they don't see you"

"How do I get them to see me?"

Asked Moon

"We have an idea to get their attention!"

The stars said excitedly

"This has to do it!"

The stars began to fall through the night sky

But still no cheers

Wait a minute!

Shouted the stars

"I think I see the problem!"

"There's a great big cloud sleeping in front of Earth!"

"That must be why they can't see how beautiful you are!"

"ZZZZ"

"ZZZZ"

Moon swooped down to talk to the sleepy cloud

"Excuse me Mr. Cloud?"

"ZZZZ"

"I'm trying to show Earth how beautiful I am"

"Would you mind drifting over just a little so they can see me?"

But Mr. Cloud would not wake up

Moon became sad

"No one will ever see how great I can be"

"Maybe Earth doesn't need me after all"

Moon drifted off out into space to be alone

"Moon!"

"Come back!"

"Don't go away!"

Morning came

and Sun went to work

"Where is Moon?"

Sun asked himself

The stars passed Sun

"Have you seen Moon?"

"He's sad that no one on Earth can see how great he is"

"He went out into space and hasn't come back"

Sun searched and searched

and finally found Moon

"Hey Moon, how come you're sad?"

"Earth always cheers for you

but no one ever sees me"

"I just want everyone to see how special I am"

"You are very special" Said Sun

All of your friends see how great you are!"

"Really?" Asked Moon

"Of course! And we can get Earth to see it too!"
