Falcón:
is one of the twenty-three states that, together with the Capital District and the Federal Dependencies, form the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Its capital is Coro and its most populated city, Fixed point

Location:
It is located in the central-western region bordering the Gulf of Venezuela and the Caribbean Sea (Atlantic Ocean), to the east with the gulf Triste (Caribbean Sea), to the south with Yaracuy and Lara, and to the west with Zulia.

Its Origin:
It was baptized with that name in honor to Juan Crisóstomo Falcón, leader of the Federal War. In front of the Falcón state, in the Caribbean Sea, is the group Leeward of the Netherlands Antilles: Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire.

Important points :
To the north of its capital, founded 26 of July of 1527, is the peninsula of Paraguaná, united to the mainland by the isthmus of the Médanos, with 27 km of length and 6 km of width. History:
In 1811 when declaring the Independence of Venezuela, Coro remains faithful to the Spanish Crown and merges to the Province of Maracaibo, until it is decreed by Fernando VII the creation of the Province of Coro in the year of 1815. Finally in 1821 when being Liberated by Josefa Camejo during the struggle of Independence appears like province of the department of Zulia of the Republic of the Great Colombia. In 1830, with the separation of Venezuela from this republic is conformed in one of its provinces.

In 1859, after the events of the initiation of the Federal War that were given on February 20 in Coro, it is declared the Independent State of Choir. Agriculture and Livestock :
The main economic activity in terms of the occupation of the labor force is agriculture, with important coconut, onion, corn, tomato, potato, melon, coffee, aloe and leguminous crops.

Falcón State is the first producer of coconut and copra, goats and their derivatives; Second in fishery production and of vegetables like onion, and paprika; Third in the production of bovine milk and melon. In addition it has great advantages for the production of vegetables of dry floor like the melon, onion, pin and the tomato. Only the coconut field, has approximately 20,000 hectares cultivated, being available for the expansion of the area on the eastern coast of Falcon state. The state of Falcón is one of the main producers of aloe vera in Venezuela, and in the coffee sector it has an exploitation of 3,500 hectares, but with a disposition of 12,700 cultivable hectares, distributed in the Sierra de Coro in the southern part of the federal entity.
In the mountains coffee is grown, with prestige being produced in the Sierra de San Luis and Sierra de Churuguara.
In the Eastern Coast there are important plantations of coconut trees, which have developed an important industry of extraction of oil and exploitation of copra. In terms of livestock, there is abundance of goats, cattle and lesser pigs.
Geography :
The Falcón state is located to the north of the geographical region denominated Coriano System. It is conformed to the south by saws of medium height configured from east to west, that in the eastern part of the state they arrive at the Caribbean forming maritime valleys. In the western part, from the city of Coro is a coastal plain that runs parallel to the Gulf of Venezuela. To the north is located one of the most characteristic geographical features that make up the Venezuelan coast: the peninsula of Paraguaná, united to the mainland by the isthmus of the Medanos of Coro.

The semi-arid climate of sparse rainfall dominates the western coast and the Paraguaná peninsula. In Coro there are 417 mm of rainfall per year, which usually declines in dry years, with an average temperature of 28.4 ° C, while in Punto Fijo there are 316 mm of annual rainfall with average temperatures of 27.6 ° C . The desert conditions of extreme dryness, with precipitations smaller than 300 mm, are recognized in the western corals and especially in the isthmus of the Medanos de Coro, with average annual temperatures between 28 to 29 ° C. In the eastern littoral sectors rainfall increases from 800 to 1,200 mm per year, always with high temperatures.

The Falcón State Coriano System presents a diversity of landscapes ranging from the coastal plains in its Caribbean side, to mountain ranges formed by valleys and mountain ranges, in a relief zone of transition between the two great mountainous systems of the country. The Sierra de San Luis has the maximum height of the whole system of basins of this state; But they are very modest heights since they do not surpass the 1,600 meters. Santa Ana Hill is a natural monument located in the center of the Paraguaná peninsula.

The hydrography of the state is very poor, all the rivers flow into the north, either in the Caribbean Sea or in the Gulf of Venezuela. However, the main Venezuelan river in the Caribbean basin, Tocuyo, bathes a large area of the state and flows into the Caribbean on the east coast of the state, after traveling 423 km. The flora and fauna of the state is as varied as its landscapes.
The marine flora is very rich. There is a great diversity of algae on rocky coasts and reef bottoms. The fishing potential of its waters is enormous and among the species that are extracted are shrimp, octopus, squid, carit, corocor, smooth, horse mackerel, lebranche and dogfish. Other species require protection such as sea turtles and the alligator on the coast. It lives in the coastal mangrove swamps of Morrocoy, Cuare and the Isthmus, along with the sea snakes, herons, cormorants, gannets and flamingo.
In the cardonal and spiny ones that occupy the low zones predominate the plants strongly armed with thorns. They are common cují yaque (emblematic tree of Falcón), broom, yabo, espinito, tunas and cardones. Scattered in the region are observed algae and sisal crops. In this environment they emphasize the bats, the rabbit sabanero, the common fox, the wild mice, iguanas and lizards; And among the birds are the Corian cardinal and the paraulata llanera or chuchube (Mimus gilvus).
On the high slopes of the mountains dominate cloud forests where a huge variety of ferns and palms grow. In the limestone formations of the sierra is the guacharo, as well as interesting birds such as the blackbird bell and the toucan emerald beak, and reptiles such as the mordelona tortoise, a species endemic to the mountains of the Coriano System. The population of the State Falcón was located in 2011 in 902 847 inhabitants, while in 2001 were registered 763 188 inhabitants.
