Abolition
Abolition was the movement that ended slavery.
In 1783 an anti slavery campaign was started.
In 1807 the slave trade was outlawed.

Battle Of Gettysburg
An 1863 battle of the Civil War.
The Battle Of Gettysburg lasted only two days.
The Battle Of Gettysburg had the most fatalities of any Civil War Battle

California Gold Rush
In 1849 California had discovered large traces of gold.
Few got rich but many actually lost money.
Many people made money selling Clothing and such for Prospectors.

Declaration Of Independence
A document written in 1776 recognizing that the U.S. is independent of the U.K.
John Hancock's signature is the most famous because it's so big and fancy.
Britain didn't recognize us as independent till years later.

Emancipation
An executive order in 1863 freeing all rebel slaves.
Many rebels lost land to slaves.
Abraham Lincoln did this.

Famine
A severe shortage of food
Many Irish people immigrated to America because of a Potato Famine.
The Potato Famine lasted 7 years which is devastating considering Potato made up a ton of there diet.

Great Compromise
An agreement on a 2 house executive system.
Where one is of the entire U.S. and one of each state in the other.
The Great Compromise was very Controversial.

House Of Burgesses
First representative assembly in the United States.
It was in the year 1619.
The assembly was in a church in Jamestown.

Industrial Revolution
When machines started replacing hand held tools for making items in the late 18th century.
The Industrial Revolution started in England.
The Industrial Revolution also started making Child Slavery more frequent.

Jamestown
The first permanent English town in America.
If Jamestown did not exist, we would still be in England most likely.
Jamestown was the start of the USA.

Kansas-Nebraska Act
A vote between Kansas and Nebraska deciding is slavery should continue or be outlawed.
People sent there kids to vote so they could have there vote count as several.
The Kansas Nebraska Act was in 1854.

Lewis and Clark Expedition
A exploration expedition of the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase.
Discovered over 9000 new Animal Species.
Started expanding westward.

Magna Carta
A document promising basic political rights in England in 1215.
No exact date was recorded for it.
Slowly started the Revolution.

Nationalism
When you feel a pride and loyalty to your country.
People with a strong sense of Nationalism believe their country is the best.
Nationalists are usually very patriotic, and honor or are in the military.
