Daniel was a boy who loved to dream.

He and his dog Charlie made up quite the team.

No matter where they went, and no matter how far,

They always stuck together,  even on their journeys to the stars.

Daniel never knew what it was like to be alone,

Because he always had Charlie to remind him of home.

"One day, we'll really go up into space.

We'll  fly, and zoom, and travel anyplace."

"We'll build a new home, and maybe even a shed.

And we'll do it all together!", Daniel said.

But one cold and rainy Friday afternoon,

Daniel came home and noticed his parents' sad mood.

They told him to sit, said they had something to share.

The news was about Charlie, but Daniel didn't care.

CHARLIE!!!!!!!

He ran through the house, searching for his beloved pet.

He shouted for Charlie, but the silence only made him more upset.

He sat with his mom, and his dad said so clear,

"Please Daniel, stop. Charlie's not here.".

What they said next was all just a blur:

"A car...an accident...Charlie got hurt..."
