Did you ever consider that maybe you are not the only living animal that is able to communicate with members from the same species?
We came up with an interactive fictional story to inform youngsters about communication within humpback whales.

I know Paul, I’ve thought about this before. I always wanted to know how does it feel like to interact with other animals. Have you ever thought of how it would feel to exchange only some words with them?
Hi, Jake! It has been a while since we haven't seen each other before, I've been acting all weary during this past weeks and it got me to reflect on how tired I am of living life apart from all animals.

If only other animals knew that humpack whales have sophisticated language skills and that we could possibly acquire and gain the skills to commuicate with them...

I know Paul, things were just meant to be like this, humpback whales living aside each other, far from others. Besides, how do we even know if other animals communicate verbally with each other?

No, Jake! Things don't have to be like this, we can learn to communicate with other animals. Don't let yourself be dragged by common knowledge, we may not pursue the most complex and expressive language beings, let's not misjudge other animals capability of communicating. Without us knowing, they may know how to form complete phrases and sentences like us, they may have their own distinctive structure of communication and they may be able to express their feelings and thoughts throughout their communication. Have you ever considered that other animals could only consist on communication in order to relate to other members of the same specie, how do you think other whales hunting pack plan their attack?

But how can we learn if we don't even speak their language?

Simple, we could learn to verbalize with them by analysing their behaviours and the possible messages they could be conveying through what they say. There are many decisive features that could help us understand the meaning of what they are saying. Alike us, other whales sing, the degree of complexity of what they are saying can be measured using algorithm that can assign a numerical value, as seen in a previous research made by a scientist.

Okay then, so let us start studying the sperm whales!
