I will forever be indebted to those who have sacrificed so much for this great nation. That men and women from all nationalities and backgrounds give to protect the values we so dearly uphold.
Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you.
Semper Fidelis

This story is about the secret heroes who were left unrecognized for over two-decades.
Without the unique language of the Navajo Code talkers, the Battles of World War II may not have been so victorious.

It all started when a man named Phillip Johnston heard of the crisis the American forces were having at the Battle of Guadalcanal.

The Japanese were cracking the code the american forces were sending to one another, causing great catastrophes for american troops.
Phillip Johnston was raised on a Navajo reservation and was one of the few outsiders who was fluent in the Navajo language.
This gave Johnston an idea. what if the americans used those fluent in the navajo language to communicate critical information throughout the battle field?

Johnston gathered 4 volunteers to demonstrate the navajo language to the militaries top officials.
Johnston was approved, and recruited 29 navajo code talkers. these 29 recruits were known as the "original 29".

once the navajo recruits completed marine corps boot camp, they were sent to create a code to be used in combat.
the navajo marines created a two part system that made it impossible to de-code.
