Competing Empires

the competing empire started in the 1700. France and Britain both feared each other, and sought to increase the area it controlled. This led to war. by the 1740s British settlers were pushing into the Ohio River valley lands claimed by the French. Therefor causing trouble.

French and Indian war begins

The french and Indian war started 1753. The French began taking back their land, the Ohio River, and Lake Eerie , Virgina colony was notified that the French were claiming The Ohio River, they sent out soldiers to escort the French to leave. The French rejected their order.

The Albany Congress

The Albany Congress took palce in Albany New York. The British wanted to be able to defend themselves against the French. The invited the Iroquois in hopes they could form an alliance against the French.

Early british defeats

Early British defeats started in 1755. They decided it was time to push the French out of the Ohio River. They sent Edward Braddock to Virgina with orders to capture Fort Dequense.
