Once upon a time the periodic table was scrambled and disorganized. Soon enough the elements all found a way to group each other into columns that were called a families. Everyone except one element, Argon, but he didn't know where to go.

He decided to start and ask the 1st column if they were his family. But the first family said no they weren't his family, for they were the alkali metals family.

The members of the family include: lithium (Li), sodium (Na), potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), cesium (Cs) and francium (Fr). They were diffrent from Argon. They were metals that were shiny and light in weight and had one valence electron in their outer shell.

He then decided to go next column and ask the second family if they were his family. The second column said no for they were the alkaline earth metals.The members of the alkaline earth metals include: beryllium (Be), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba) and radium (Ra). Alkaline earth metals are metals that are low in density are shiny, malleable and have two electrons in the outer shell, unlike Argon.

He then went from columns 3 through 12 asking if they were his family but they all said no for they were all the transition metals. They were metals with high boiling point and high density. They weren't Argon family.
