Today was the first day of school and the first day at my brand new school. Normally I would've walked to the bus stop but not this time. I got a sweet new bike for my birthday this past summer and wanted to ride it to school and impress all the kids on the playground.

My school was only a couple blocks away so my parents were cool with me taking my bike. It wasn't going to be a regular thing. During my ride I started having problems with the gears and didn't notice the rock in my path. I hit the rock and ended up flying head first over the handle bars. I landed hard on the ground and was a little shook up.

MR. GERRARD

GRADE SIX TEACHER

"Good morning class. My name is Mr. Gerrard and I'll be your teacher this year. I'm going to take attendance now." Mr. Gerrard went through the entire class list and only one kid was not present. "Richard? Richard? Has anyone seen Richard?" Nobody replied. "I'll be right back" the teacher said as he left the classroom.

"Thanks for the information Mr. Gerrard. I'll take it from here. Alright, listen up! My name is Detective Morse from The Delinquent Student Division of the School Board. What we have here is a class skipper by the name of Richard. I'll need helicopters, maps, and dogs for this investigation!"

CLASS SKIPPER

"Isn't that a bit harsh for a kid who might just be running late for school?" "Listen Phillips. I never missed a day of school in my life and I'm not about to let kids start skipping class now. Not on my watch. Let's move out.  We have a skipper that needs to be brought to justice."

"Boy, does my head ever hurt. I must be late for school by now. I'm going to be in big trouble. If I go home my Mom will yell at me. If I go to school I'll get detention." As I pondered my next move I heard a growling noise. At first I thought it was my tummy but when I looked up I saw a wolf with my sandwich in his mouth. I got on my bike and rode away as fast as I could.

"What have you got there boy?" a woman asked. "Is that a sandwich? You know what I told you about eating stuff you find on the ground. Bad husky!" I had escaped the wolf but now I had no idea where I was. I found myself lost in a forest, all alone. I was so tired, cold, and hungry that I felt like crying. Except for some chirping birds, the forest was completely silent. And then I heard the helicopter.

At first I was pretty excited to hear the helicopter. Finally there was somebody here to save me. I started to wave my hands to get their attention. But then a dire warning was shouted out to me from overhead, "Richard, this is Detective Morse from The Delinquent Student Division! If you surrender now I'll make sure that you only get a couple weeks of detention!"

I tried to escape on my bike but this time the chain fell off. I ditched the bike and kept running until I ran into the Detective. "Turn yourself in Richard!" "I didn't skip class on purpose. Somebody meddled with the gears on my bike!" "I don't care!" Facing a lengthy detention I was left with only one choice........jump into the reservoir below.
