Rising Action...

Britain enacted many laws on the colonists, none of which they agreed with. They were being taxed more to help pay for the cost of the war and they were forced to house British soldiers. As time went on, tension grew and more colonists began to protest these new laws.

March 5, 1770

A group of four lads encountered a British soldier and started to cause trouble, until the soldier struck one of them on the arm. Soon a group of both colonists and soldiers had gathered and the colonists began to throw snowballs and rocks at the soldiers.

Britain strikes back

Thomas Preston, the Captain of the soldiers, eventually ordered for them to fire, trying to end the chaos. A total of seven to eleven British guns were fired into the crowd, killing five people and leaving six wounded.

The result

Groups of protesting colonists used this event to their advantage, showing others the "evils" of the British rule. Others began to see the British in another light, which eventually led to the American Revolution.
