I dedicate this story to my younger brother Patrick

Max is a 2nd grader who loves sports, hanging out with his friends and his dog Joey.

One day at school, a new boy joins Max's class. He is from Puerto Rico and his name is Neto.

Max and Neto become friends quickly on the playground because they both like soccer. Neto doesn't look like the rest of the kids at school because his skin is darker and he talks with an accent.
Neto tells Max about his home country of Puerto Rico, a beautiful island in the Caribbean. Puerto Rico is a mix of different cultures. Neto speaks Spanish and English. Neto had to leave his home after the floods from Hurricane Maria destroyed everything. People are hurting badly back home and Neto is sad and wishes he could help them.

Max and Neto start to think of ideas to help the people of Puerto Rico who are suffering. They think of ways they can raise $ for a donation to help.
Idea #1 Max & Neto start a lemonade stand.
