Background Information
The Bay's health has rapidly decreased due to runoffs into connecting streams that contain phosphates and nitrogen that comes from runoff and fertilizers. The health is maintained by watching important habitats, the fish populations, and water quality measures' to look out for any differences.
Background Information
Even though the health of The Chesapeake Bay has improved slowly over time, there is still high amounts of polluted water, degraded habitats, and low populations of species.

There once was an Oyster named Oscar, he was the smallest oyster on the bed.
Oscar noticed that his friends started to disappear, one by one until Oscar was left all alone.
Many times Oscar was pulled out onto the boat, but he was always too small to go with his friends.

Oscar and his friends lived on an oyster bed in the Patuxent River, near Jefferson Patterson Park.

One day Oscar and his friends were just filter out water, and out of nowhere a net encircled the group, helpless Oscar and his friends were pulled out of the water and onto a boat.

They were brought into a huge lab and people with white coats walked around everywhere. Oscar and his friends were in big tanks and they were very confused.

Oscar noticed that the water in the tanks was very similar to the water at home, and Oscar and his friends decided to filter like they do at home because they were hungry!

After a short amount of time, what Oscar proposed to be twenty minutes, the water was starting to noticeably clear. This isn't like what happens at home, Oscar thought, at home the water stays dirty!

Oscar realized that the water must be clearing up because there was a smaller amount of water for Oscar to filter. I've got it, he thought, we have to get more oysters at home! But how?
