The Articles of Confederation, formally the Articles of Confederation and was an agreement among the 13 original states of the United States of America that served as its first constitution. Its drafting by a committee appointed by the Second Continental Congress began on July 12, 1776, and an approved version was sent to the states for ratification on November 15, 1777. The Articles of Confederation came into force on March 1, 1781, after being ratified by all 13 states. A guiding principle of the Articles was to preserve the independence and sovereignty of the states. It was first rejected but the john dickison a neutral was trying to get the aof ratified but the government was saying yes to something else and he couldn't say yes or no so he just resigned and joined the war
The lucky states argued about stuff like who had the most power and stupid stuff like that. George Washington feared that his soldiers would leave so he took food from the farmers and gave iou's which piled up and left the congress in debt which made them put taxes on the states. Delegates began to ignore their duties. Maryland didn't like Virginia because they had way more luxuries but they really hated they British so they ratified the AOF.
George Washington won the love of the nation and resigned to live a peaceful life. He also asked for a way to pay his soldiers. Virginia decided to sell land to the west. Rhode Island agreed on selling land because it was good for money. The British argued that if the Americans didn't do their part they wouldn't do theirs. Pennsylvania was at war with Connecticut because of the border problem.
