What is an Ecoregion?

An ecoregion is a community of animals and plants that all have a job. An ecoregion is defined by the land.

Pineywoods Ecoregion

The Pineywoods ecoregion is, you guessed it, woods. It is located in east Texas. The land is covered with mostly pine trees and oak trees, but has 85 different kinds of trees. There are also over 1,000 smaller plants, and 180 kinds of birds. Many of these species are in The Big Thicket. The Big Thicket is kind of like a zoo in nature. It is usually very hot in the Pineywoods. Not much soil is blown around in the wind due to the plants, and this helps the Pineywoods be an amazing place.
