"Christmas Break! Christmas Break!" Claire shouted with her kindergarten class minutes before leaving school for winter break. What even is Christmas Break? Claire thought. The three-beat school bell rang and the students ran to their buses and the thought left Claire's mind.

On the bus, Claire put together the clues of what she had heard at school. So, apparently Christmas is a time when you get presents and when a big man with a long, white beard comes down your fireplace and steals your cookies, Claire thought.

Claire got off the bus and changed into her prettiest pink princess dress.

"Are you ready for Christm... I mean winter break?" Claire's mom, Lisa, asked as she quickly corrected herself.

"Yes!" Claire said thrilled, wondering what her mom was about to say.

Later, Claire was thinking about what her mom was about to say earlier. Ohh! She was about to say Christmas break! I still don't know what that is. Claire decided to ask her mom about what Christmas was.
